The Architects Council of New York (ACNY) is a coalition of architectural organizations, including AIA Bronx, AIA Brooklyn, AIA Queens, AIA Staten Island, and SARA | NY, serving the architectural profession.

ACNY is dedicated to unify and coordinate the voices of all Architects affected by Legislative, Policies, Procedure Actions and Professional Licensing Regulations within the boundaries of New York City.

While superseding BB 2015-025, this Bulletin clarifies the types of work involving an existing fire alarm system, designed, and approved under the 2014 Building Code or prior codes which are subject to the 2022 Construction Codes.   • DOT Releases Final Rules for Permanent Outdoor Dining Program

    Almost two years after the City Planning Commission’s zoning text changes, applications for the permanent program are expected to open next month. On February 2, 2024, the Department of Transportation released the final rules for the permanent outdoor dining program, “Dining Out NYC.” Through the new program, outdoor dining will be expanded citywide on sidewalks year-round and in roadways seasonally from April through November.

    Good afternoon, Code Committee members and stakeholders.

    As 2023 draws to a close and the festive spirit fills the air, the Code Development team would like to take a moment to express our gratitude to you, our amazing partners and collaborators.

    This year has included triumphs and challenges, but your willingness to be present – and patient – for us at DOB has been a great source of encouragement. We’ve got a long road ahead of us, but your dedication and insights will continue to inspire the work we’re doing in Technical Affairs and Code Development to improve construction codes, the Department, and ultimately our city.     Operational/Buildings Bulletin 2023-016 establishes the acceptance criteria where gas work was performed by individuals not possessing the minimum required qualifications.

    Technical/Buildings Bulletin 2023-017 clarifies the applicability of the New York City Building Code provisions for exit access stair enclosures (BC 1019.3, Exception 3) in one- and two-family dwellings.

    Technical/Buildings Bulletin 2023-018 clarifies the technical and administrative requirements when Joint Living-Work Quarters for Artists (JLWQA) are converted to general residential use.

    Technical/Buildings Bulletin 2023-019 rescinds 1 Directive and 19 Memoranda which were issued by the Department but are no longer applicable under current Codes and Local Laws.

    Technical/Buildings Bulletin 2023-020 rescinds 2 Directives, 2 OPPNs, and 15 Memoranda which were issued by the Department but are no longer applicable under current Codes and Local Laws.
