Robert Strong, President
Robert Strong founded his namesake firm in 1983. He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from The Cooper Union, where he studied with the legendary John Hejduk. Early in his career his illustrations were published in the New York Times and New York Magazine. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) as well as a Director of the New York Society of Architects. Robert is currently a member of the Society of American Registered Architects (SARA), a director on the board of the New York Council (SARA NY), and President of the Architects Council of New York (ACNY). For over 30 years he has been an artist member of the historic Salmagundi Club, where he was the Director of Restoration and Chairman of the House for over a decade. He is also a member of the Artist Fellowship that helps needy artists with monetary gifts. Currently, Robert is collaborating with his son Robinson Strong, an award winning graduated from Pratt University School of Architecture in 2016, on the empowered space sculpture series.
Victor Han, Vice President
Currently the President-Elect of AIA Queens and is the Queens Director for AIA NYS, is a registered architect and member of The American Institute of Architects, since 2001, with Civil Engineering and Architectural background from New Jersey Institute of Technology, Polytechnic Institute of New York University and the Institute of Design and Construction.
Founder and principal of Victor K. Han Architect PC, a multi-discipline architectural and engineering firm. Designed and managed over 2,000,000 square feet of retail and office buildings as well as over 500 new homes, from custom homes to planned unit developments. NYC Code Consulting for Architects and Engineers throughout the country and provides professional services on behalf of clients before the Buildings Department, Board of Standards and Appeals, City Planning Commission and the Department of Environmental Conservation.
Gaetano Ragusa, Treasurer
Gaetano Ragusa has been in the practice of Architecture since 1983. His experience focuses on the design of site development, new building design, adaptive reuse, renovation, and restoration. Projects consist of rehabilitation of multiple dwellings, commercial retail centers, mixed use designs; early childhood facilities, industrial design, and a varied selection of custom designed residences. Gaetano is principal of Tano Group Architects, a firm that has provided services in land feasibility study, building programming and design, code & ordinance consulting, contract administration as well as industrial and commercial center design and conversions.
Gaetano holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from City College at CUNY. He is a licensed architect in NY and NJ. He has taught architecture as an adjunct professor at IDC, the Institute of Design and Construction, from 1993 - 1997 for the A.R.E. preparatory exams. Professional Associations include: 1994-95 President of AIA Brooklyn; 1995-96 President of ACNY; 1995-2000 Com Chair at NY Fine Arts Federation; 1997-98 Treasurer of NYS Architects Association; 2000-20008 President of ACNY (Second Term); 2016-2017 President of SARA (Society of American Registered Architects); 2008-Present Treasurer of ACNY.
Raymond T. Peebles, Secretary
Raymond T. Peebles has been a registered architect since 1970. His firm was established in 1972, professionally serving the various communities of New York City.
Raymond has worked at all levels, from a Draftsman, Project Manager, and Director of Architectural Design, before obtaining his license as a Registered Architect. His firm has worked with private organizations as well as several community organizations in the design of new low, medium and high-rise housing developments. Over the years, the firm has expanded its expertise to include Houses of Worship and Day Care Centers including both new and retro designs.
Raymond is presently active in professional organizations, such as the American Institute of Architects where he is a Corporate Board Member, and the Architects Council of New York as a Board Member.
Raymond T. Mellon, Legal Counsel
Raymond T. Mellon, a Senior Partner of Zetlin & De Chiara LLP, is a leading construction litigator and experienced trial lawyer with an extensive background in representing prominent architectural, engineering and contracting firms on business negotiations and in litigation. In addition to consulting with clients on general business matters, construction contract drafting and negotiation, and risk management strategies, Mr. Mellon represents design professionals in disciplinary and licensing proceedings before the City and State of New York. Mr. Mellon’s clients also include some of the largest developers in the United States as well as owners, developers, construction managers, contractors and other parties in the construction industry.
Mr. Mellon is General Counsel and Honorary Member of the Brooklyn and Queens AIA Chapters. He is also an Honorary Member of the New York State AIA. Mr. Mellon is also a member of the National and New York Chapters of the Society of American Registered Architects, the Architects Council of New York City, and the New York Building Congress’ Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.
Dmitriy Shenker, Director
Dmitriy Shenker completed his Architectural studies at the State Academy of Architecture and Engineering in Voronezh, Russia, and practiced in Russia and Ukraine for several years. Among many residential and public buildings projects. Dmitriy designed a Concert Hall for the city of Chernihiv, Ukraine, with a capacity of 1,500 seats. As an independent Architect, Dmitriy won prizes in several design competitions, including Second Prize in the all-Soviet-Union residential design contest in 1988.
After moving to the United States, Dmitriy became a Registered Architect in the State of New York in 1994. He worked as Project Architect and Consultant for several years before he began his own Architectural practice in 1996, which in 2003 was incorporated as “Shenker Architect, P.C.“.
His firm is providing Architectural design services from project inception to construction completion for various building types with an emphasize on luxury residential.
Dmitriy joined the Brooklyn Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 1993 and served in various positions throughout the years including president in 2006-07 and 2017. In addition, he was president of the AIA Brooklyn Scholarship Foundation from 2012-2013. Currently, Dmitriy is the representative of AIA Brooklyn at the Architects Council of New York (ACNY).
Giuseppe Anzalone, Director
Born in a town outside Palermo, Sicily, Mr. Anzalone came to this country as a young boy. Raised in Brooklyn, NY, he attended Pratt Institute and later returned to Italy to complete his education in Rome.
In addition to Mr. Anzalone’s formal architectural training, his technical skills are on par with, and seamlessly mesh with that of the engineers that he coordinates with, making the process exceptionally fluid.
His past 20 years architectural experience in the aviation sector, and consulting on large scaled projects, has solidified his demanding standards in meeting time and cost constraints. A seasoned project manager, Mr. Anzalone currently acts as project principal on multiple active projects on a day to day basis in addition to the management of New York Design’s sizable staff.
Being the president of the American Institute Of Architects, Brooklyn Chapter, Mr. Anzalone, regularly interacts with city and state officials on a variety of issues concerning public policy and political issues. Mr. Anzalone sits on various committees, which, interacting with municipal agencies help shape the operating landscape of the NYC real estate market.
AIA STATEN ISLAND
Jeffrey Geary, Director
Jeff Geary, AIA Graduate of (NYIT) New York institute of Technology in 1997. Licensed to practice the profession of Architecture in the State of New York since 2004. He is the owner and president of “Jeff Geary”- Avid Designs, Inc., located in the Borough of Staten island, New York City.
Jeff has served as President of AIA Staten Island Chapter 2016 and has focused on connecting communications to multiple associations with the AIA Staten island Chapter. He is committed to community service, quality of life and safety through his ability to coordinate government agencies offices and community at large. Jeff brings extensive knowledge of NYC building codes and Energy Code to ACNY. He is an active participant of the Building Emergency Inspection Team of Hurricane Sandy.
Joseph Loccisano, Director
Joe is a graduate of New York Institute of Technology where he received his Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1987. Upon graduation, he spent the next 14 years working for several respected New York City firms accruing a wealth of knowledge in all phases of residential, commercial and industrial design. Joe is a registered architect in New York and New Jersey as well as being an active member of the American Institute of Architects and the Building Industry Association of New York where he contributes his time and insight of Code and Zoning to the Technical Affairs Committee and Department of Buildings Committee for these organizations.
In 1999 he started his own company with his partner and long time friend and co-worker, Mike Sanna. Collectively, they have completed many successful projects including the Heart and Lung Center at Staten Island University Hospital, a learning center for autistic children, several restaurants throughout the boroughs, private medical facilities, warehouses, industrial buildings, custom residential homes, multifamily developments, as well as a variety of residential and commercial alterations.

Mark Kaplan, Director
Mark Kaplan is an architect registered to practice in the states of NY, NJ & Pa. He is President of Space and Place Associates Ltd., and has been providing consulting services to Real Estate and Building Professionals on matters of NYC Building Code, NYC Zoning Regulations and governmental agency procedures for over 25 years.
Following a successful first year as a director on the board of SARA NY, Mark hopes to continue to contribute to SARA NY membership through his representation of SARA NY on the board of the Architect’s Council of New York (ACNY), his leadership of the Government Affairs Committee, and his joint initiatives with the Continuing Education and Membership Committees.
John Scheschareg, Director
John J. Scheschareg, FARA, is President of Oculus Consulting Group, a specialized Code, Zoning and Expediting firm. Mr. Scheschareg is responsible for all interactions with the New York City Department of Buildings, and other city agencies. His extensive experience in matters of code compliance and administration procedures impacting work, not solely, but specifically in the City of New York, makes him a valuable asset not only to its sister company, M.J. Mr. Scheschareg is a graduate of New York Institute of Technology and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture. He has been a licensed architect since 1996. He is the acting National Director / Recorder of the Society of American Registered Architects (SARA) and former President of the Society’s New York Council. Mr. Scheschareg received his Fellowship from the Society of American Registered Architects in 2008. He is also the President of the Architects Council of New York and a member of the New York Society of Architects (NYSA) and the International Building Council (IBC). His experience of over 20 years with M.J. Macaluso & Associates includes a wide range of projects from retail and hospitality projects, residential estates, commercial and industrial facilities, medical and therapy properties, to highlight a few.
Harold Kahn is an Architect registered in New York since 1972. He has over forty years’ experience in the management and administration of design, production, construction and cost control of commercial, institutional, health care, residential and industrial projects nationwide.
He was one of the founders of SKR Group, a Design/Build company that has been in business for over thirty-five years, and was the principal in charge of Architectural Services, who followed the development and execution of each assignment from inception through completion of construction.
Mr. Kahn is a graduate of Pratt Institute - Brooklyn, NY, holding both Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Science - Urban Design, Degrees.
