New Building Gas Ban and Noise Mitigation Plan

Mayor Signs Bill to Ban Gas Usage in New Buildings

The bill bans the use of gas in new buildings by the end of 2027. On December 22, 2021, Mayor Bill de Blasio signed Int. 2317-A into law, which requires the phasing out of the combustion of fossil fuels in new buildings

There seems to be a change in the noise mitigation requirements, now requiring filing of noise mitigation plans with the DEP.

In accordance with § 24-219 and § 24-220 of the New York City Noise Control Code, every construction site where construction activities take place shall have, conspicuously posted and filed with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), a complete and accurate Construction Noise Mitigation Plan, except such sites that will have emergency work completed within three days or less, shall not be required to file the plan.
