Shaping the City's Future: NYC Department of City Planning

Join us as we welcome NYC Planning Commission Chairperson Marisa Lago along with her colleagues, Deputy Director of Zoning Frank Ruchala and Deputy Director of Queens Office Alexis Wheeler, on Tuesday, June 15th, 6:00 - 7:00 PM.


The impact of COVID-19 is immeasurable and Queens, NY became an epicenter of this pandemic. Now, the city faces the challenge of recovering while also tackling the important work of advancing equity, resiliency, and sustainability goals. The Department of City Planning seeks to engage New Yorkers, advocacy groups and elected officials as it plans for housing, and especially affordable housing, space for workers, and a fairer and more resilient New York City. Chair Lago will make remarks that will focus on COVID recovery, equity, resiliency and sustainability which may include housing, jobs, open space and the waterfront. She will speak to Zoning for Coastal Flood Resiliency, Zoning for Accessibility, with both a citywide but also a Queens focus. She will speak to As of Right zoning – the bread and butter of development in NYC She will speak to some recently approved coming projects and proposals:
